We’ve integrated Android’s TalkBack and Apple’s VoiceOver screen reader features with the BrightHR mobile app, helping to make your BrightHR even more accessible!

You can now get spoken instructions so that you can use your BrightHR dashboard without looking at the screen. Here’s how to set it up on your mobile…

How to get started

Android users

Android’s Accessibility Suite comes pre-installed on some devices, but if it isn’t on yours, then you’ll need to download it from the Google Play Store.

To active the TalkBack feature, hold down both volume keys at the same time. If this doesn’t work, you can activate it in your mobile settings:

1) Go to settings and click on Accessibility features.

2) Click on Accessibility and then toggle TalkBack to On and click OK.

3) Go to your BrightHR app to hear it in action.

iOS users

There are a couple of ways to activate VoiceOver on your iPhone.

You can either ask Siri to “Turn on VoiceOver” or “Turn off VoiceOver”. Or you can turn on VoiceOver in your mobile settings:

1) Go to settings and click on Accessibility.

2) Click on VoiceOver, then turn the setting to On or Off.

3) Go to your BrightHR app to hear it in action.

How to navigate BrightHR

Now that you’ve set up your screen reader, you can start using it alongside your BrightHR mobile app. Here’s how:

Explore by touch

Simply drag your finger around the screen and your phone will announce the icons, buttons, and other items. You can then double tap anywhere on the screen to click the selected item.

Linear navigation

To explore BrightHR one item at a time, swipe your finger left or right on the screen to move through each item. Your phone will let you know what actions you can take on each item, such as double tapping to open a folder.
